Slap apps don't work on Intel MacBooks. They rely on the built-in accelerometer to feel a slap, and that sensor only exists in Apple Silicon MacBooks. No sensor, nothing to detect. This is true for Slap Your Mac and every competitor.
If your Mac isn't supported, Slap Your Mac shows a friendly notice on launch instead of silently doing nothing.
Why we stay Apple Silicon only: some apps fall back to your microphone so they can claim Intel or Windows support, but mic detection misfires constantly. We'd rather work well on the Macs that have the sensor than badly everywhere.
Does Slap Mac work on Intel MacBooks?+
No. Every slap-your-MacBook app, including Slap Your Mac, needs the built-in motion sensor to detect a slap. That sensor only ships in Apple Silicon MacBooks (M1 Pro, M2 and newer). Intel MacBooks don't have it, so there's nothing for the app to read.
Which Macs are supported?+
Apple Silicon MacBooks with the motion sensor: M1 Pro, M1 Max, and every M2, M3 and M4 MacBook Air and Pro. The base M1 MacBook Air and Mac desktops (iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio) don't have the sensor.
Why do slap apps need Apple Silicon?+
They read a real accelerometer to tell a slap apart from normal typing. Apple started including that sensor in Apple Silicon MacBooks. Without it there's no reliable way to feel an impact.
Slap Your Mac isn't detecting my slaps. What's wrong?+
Check three things: you're on a supported Apple Silicon MacBook; you granted Input Monitoring when asked (System Settings → Privacy & Security → Input Monitoring); and your sensitivity isn't set too low. The default 'feather touch' level fires on a light tap.
Is there a version for Intel Macs or Windows?+
Not from us. Some tools use the microphone instead of a motion sensor to work on Intel or Windows laptops, but mic detection is far less reliable. Slap Your Mac is Apple Silicon only, on purpose, so it actually works.
